Which clinic should I visit?

Every Joo Chiat consultation is with Dr Kenneth Tan personally — a Family Medicine Specialist registered with the Singapore Medical Council Specialist Register in Family Medicine. Your consultation fee is confirmed with you at the time of booking, so you know what to expect before the visit. At both clinics, medications and any in-clinic procedures are charged separately and explained before they happen.

For urgent medical concerns, please call us directly or visit the nearest Emergency Department if you cannot wait.

Schedule of fees

Our consultation fees are based on the time your visit needs. Most visits are standard. A complex issue, several issues, time to weigh a decision or go through information, or paperwork such as referral letters and memos take longer and fall into the next band. Fees reflect the total time a visit requires, including work completed after you leave the room, to the nearest 10-minute block. We do not rush several issues into a shorter consultation to save time: each issue is dealt with to the satisfaction of both patient and doctor, to protect you and ensure the most appropriate care. Let us know at the start what you would like to cover, so the right time can be set aside. Standard and long consultations are seen as walk-ins. Consultations of 30 minutes or more need to be booked in advance as extended consultations; without a booking, the doctor may ask you to return at another time. This is the single, current fee schedule, the same one displayed at each clinic.

Punggol clinic (from 15 September 2026)

CHAS, Healthier SG and MediSave apply as usual, and our additional clinic discounts for CHAS Blue (20%) and CHAS Orange (10%) cardholders continue unchanged. If you have several issues to go through, book an extended consultation (30, 45 or 60 minutes) so the time is set aside — extended consultations cannot usually be accommodated as a walk-in.

At both clinics, medications and investigations are charged separately and explained before they are incurred. Procedure time — including taking consent — is charged at twice the consultation rate, because instruments must be cleaned and processed, the room restored and records completed afterwards; the fee is quoted before the procedure. The clinic is not GST-registered; no GST is added.

Fees — three common questions

Why do consultation fees differ? Because the clinic’s costs run by time — the doctor’s, and the room’s. Assessing one simple issue fully takes about 10 minutes. A complex issue, several issues, time to weigh a decision or go through information, or paperwork such as referral letters and memos take 20 minutes or longer, and are charged in the next band.

How do I know which band my visit is? The band follows the time your visit takes. If you have several things to cover, tell us at the start so the right time is set aside and there are no surprises at the counter.

Can I have an extended consultation as a walk-in? Standard and long consultations (up to about 20 minutes) are seen as walk-ins. A 30-, 45- or 60-minute consultation needs to be booked in advance so the doctor can plan the time around other patients; without a booking, the doctor may ask you to return at another time.

What if I only have a quick question? A short, single-issue visit is a standard consultation. A repeat prescription without seeing the doctor is $18.

Can several issues be squeezed into a standard consultation? No. We do not rush several issues into a shorter consultation to save time — each issue is dealt with to the satisfaction of both patient and doctor, because that is what protects you and ensures the most appropriate care. That is why several issues fall into the long band, or an extended consultation booked in advance.

When does a consultation start and end? It starts when the consultation begins and ends when all the work for that visit is completed — not when you leave the room. Memos, referral letters and other paperwork done afterwards are part of the same consultation, and the fee is an estimate of the total time required, to the nearest 10-minute block. Coming back after billing, or asking for further services afterwards, is a new consultation at the standard rate — so it helps to raise everything you need at the start.
